What happened on the 105 freeway right now?
Two people were injured in a car-to-car shooting on the 105 freeway in south Los Angeles on Friday afternoon and the highway was closed, officials said.
According to Lieutenant Martinez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting took place on the westbound freeway at Central Avenue.
California Highway Patrol officer Gonzalez confirmed that the shooting was from vehicle to vehicle, and CHP spokeswoman Angelia Gonzales later confirmed that the incident occurred at 6:23 p.m.
Two people were taken to hospital for their injuries, although it is not clear whether they were killed by bullets or possibly injured in the accident. Aerial footage from the scene showed at least one crashed car near the centre divider.
Gonzales said the shooter or shooters fled west at 105.
According to the CHP, a SIG alert has been issued for the highway, and all lanes will be blocked for two hours.
Traffic is being diverted on Wilmington Avenue.
The CHP said that at 8:23 pm, the sig alert was extended for another two hours.
