Sajith’s drone can fly with a weight of 15 kg; Received First Prize in Drone Development Hackathon

Kozhikode: Sajith Kolleri, a native of Kadalundi, has developed a drone that can lift a weight of up to 15 kg. The drone designed by Sajith’s team ‘Supertech’ won the first prize in the ‘Drone Development Hackathon’ organized by the Kerala Police Drone Forensic Lab in Thiruvananthapuram.

The competition was organized under the category of Heavylift. The drone can lift a weight of up to 15 kg and travel within a radius of 1.5 km. The drone is 4.5 feet tall and the range can be increased using the remote control. The drone can also be programmed via GPS.

Sajith said such drones can be used on a large scale to deliver food and medical supplies to disaster-hit areas. Drones can be used for farming purposes and surveillance purposes by army and police. Sajith got the support of his friend Pranav Padmanapuram in the competition.

Sajith has been experimenting with drones for over 8 years. He has not been able to test the drone in open space due to restrictions. He has applied for the license and is expected to get the license soon. Sajith had earlier made a smart electric bike. Minister Antony Raju presented a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to Sajith.
