Belmar, NJ With a lovely weekend forecast, the return of the New Jersey Seafood Festival is the perfect way to start off the summer season. Such a festival, which is celebrating its 35th year and was not held since 2019.
It will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 20-22) at Payone Plaza and Payone Plaza parking lots (9th Avenue and Main Street). The belmar seafood festival was moved from Silver Lake to Ocean Avenue in 2019.
More than 40 vendors will be involved in this. While the focus is on selling fresh seafood, there will be plenty to do for those who aren’t fans of fresh catches. All vendors sell non-seafood dishes and there will also be live music from local musicians, and 10th Ave.
As well as the wine-beer-margarita tent of the burrito. Pat Roadie will play Friday, May 20 at 4 p.m., opening the festivities.
Several Belmar restaurants will be in attendance, including longtime participant Ragin Cajun, who has confirmed that they will serve Steamed Spiced Shrimp, Jambalaya, Coconut Shrimp and Alligator Sausage.
Mr Shrimp’s owner, Vincent Petruziello, is quite excited to the event and says his favourite memories of the festival are “when we were at the beach and just sitting around the boardwalk watching everyone eat lobster, laughing, and laughing.” We’re looking at a great start to summertime.” Mr Shrimp will serve lobster with corn on the cob, peel-and-eat shrimp cocktail, roasted clams, shrimp salad sandwiches, and shrimp quesadillas.
Other Belmar vendors include like Klein’s, Connie Waffles, Federico’s, Hogitos, Simply Southern, Sonny’s Grill and Cotta Sushi.
Simple Southern’s award-winning Crab Cakes first stole the show at the festival 19 years ago. “This local festival means a lot to us because it opened the doors for everyone to enjoy our delicious seafood and Southern-style food just like they would at restaurants,” said Rashid Simmons, owner of Simple Southern said. “We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend and we look forward to seeing the location return to the beach in the future. It sure wouldn’t be summer on the coast without representing Simply Southern at the Belmar Seafood Festival.
Festival hours are Friday, May 20 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm,
Saturday 21st May from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
and on Sunday 22nd May from 11 am to 6:00 pm
The festival has attracted 100,000 people over the years, so it was best to reach by train. Admission to the festival is free, but admission to wine-beer-margarita fare is $5.
